Tip of the day: Re-use old candles

February 23, 2010

Your candle may have burned out long ago (thank you Elton John), but that doesn’t mean you should throw it away. Put old scented candles in drawers and linen closets to “lighten up” the scent of your clothes! Tea lights are especially good for keeping spare sheets and towels smelling amazing, so slip them in between folded layers when storing.

Note for you guys: I realize you probably don’t have many scented candles lying around, and if you do, you might not want your favorite boxers and jersey smelling like Vanilla Sunrise. I get it. Instead, try substituting gender-neutral scented dryer sheets. Just be sure to rotate them every few weeks, as they will lose their odor-masking abilities quicker than candles.
