Tip of the day: Furniture finds!

March 22, 2010

Need furniture for your new abode, but don’t want to spend a ton of money? Understood. Unless you are prepared to buy investment pieces that you plan on using for years to come, don’t fork over the big bucks on things like dressers and night stands. Save your money for something more practical, like shoes.

Try checking out your local flea market! Ok, yes, I completely agree the term “flea market” is effing sick. However, if you can get past this, flea markets offer dirt cheap furniture just waiting to be refurbished! You can get an entire bedroom set for less than $50…which is borderline-obscene.

If you don’t find anything you like, or your town doesn’t have a flea market, try craigslist. I’ve never actually used it, but I hear good things…

Hint: Don’t be deterred if you don’t see anything in the color you want. That’s why they invented paint. And if you’re real lazy, spray paint! One cool technique to try is crackling- click here to see what I mean!
